Definition

A timeshifting service offers to the users the possibility to go backward on the live content by using the trick play functions (pause, fast rewind, seek). The live program is typically recorded by a cloud DVR service.

A second definition of timeshifting refers to ability to watch the same programming in a different time zone but at the same local time of the original program. An example is the same news program offered at 8pm ET as well as 8pm PT.
