Definition

A one-to-many network traffic distribution mechanism. stands in contrast to (one-to-one) network traffic transactions.  Broadcast (one-to-all) is the other traffic scheme which is only used and feasible in very limited settings. Multicast has been mainly used with the traditional live broadcast type of delivery.
