Definition

Vertical Blanking Interval (VBI) is a period of time within the vertical blanking period of a video signal. It is a fundamental component of analog television and some legacy video formats. The VBI occurs between the end of one video field (or frame) and the start of the next field (or frame) in an analog video signal.
