Definition

ICY is an HTTP-based protocol and header (used by internet radio servers like Icecast and SHOUTcast) embedded within the audio stream. The ICY protocol allows audio players to request metadata which is then inserted into the stream at regular intervals. The client can extract and display this information which can include station name, genre, bitrate, and current track title.
